A member of the Asteraceae family. Perennial coneflower with pale petals. E. sanguinea is an uncommon Echinacea species, with medicinal properties, like E. angustifolia and E. purpurea, the 2 species used in many herbal remedies for cold and influenza.
Care and cultivation Seeds can be planted 1cm deep in a well drained potting mix and placed in full sun to part shade until germination. Likes adequate water/fertiliser and a full-sun position in well drained soil. Fast growing and hardy, leaves may die over winter.
